Free Pregnancy Testing

Our pregnancy tests are lab-quality, high-sensitivity urine tests with instant results by the day of a missed period.  A missed period is the most common indication of pregnancy, but it does not necessarily mean you are pregnant.

Cumming Women’s Center and the Forsyth County Health Department offer pregnancy testing to those who do not have medical insurance.

Cumming Women’s Center offers pregnancy testing at no cost to you.  A licensed medical professional and a patient care advocate will meet with you during your appointment to address medical questions and offer needed community resources.  We provide patients who have a positive urine pregnancy test at our center with a proof of pregnancy, which is needed to apply for Medicaid, a state program that covers prenatal care and labor and delivery for those who qualify.  We also provide our patients with a list of local OB/GYNs that accept Medicaid.  A prenatal care appointment for an initial ultrasound may be made with an OB once a Medicaid number is established.

The Forsyth County Health Department performs urine pregnancy tests and offers help for Medicaid applicants.  Most women can receive their Medicaid number during a pregnancy test appointment at the health department and learn which OB/GYN providers in the area accept Medicaid.

First, you will need to find out which doctors take your insurance. The type of doctor who cares for pregnant women is called an OB/GYN.  If you call the phone number on the back of your insurance card or visit your insurance provider’s website, you can get a list of doctors within your network.

Next, contact an OB/GYN and let them know you think you may be pregnant. They will schedule you for a visit to confirm pregnancy.  An ultrasound is typically performed at your doctor’s office 8-10 weeks after the first day of your last period.
