Cumming Women’s Center offers an exam for those who have recently experienced an abortion. After an abortion, women may experience emotional and physical changes. A post-abortion exam may be conducted no earlier than four weeks after an abortion.

Our exam may include:

health assessment
physical exam
urine pregnancy test
hemoglobin and hematocrit testing
referral for support after an abortion

A medical provider should be seen after an abortion to rule out an incomplete abortion or an infection.

How long should I wait after an abortion to schedule an exam?

You should wait 4 weeks after a surgical or medical abortion to have an exam.

What if I’m having physical complications?

If you are having symptoms that are concerning to you, please reach out to the provider who performed your abortion or your OB/GYN or visit your nearest emergency room.

What if I’m struggling emotionally after an abortion?

Cumming Women’s Center offers after abortion care and support to those who are struggling emotionally after an abortion. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself or ending your life, please call the suicide hotline at 988 or visit your local emergency room.
